Question 286444: For what value of k will the pair of equations 3x+4y=12 and kx+12y=30 not have a unique solution?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There is no unique solution when they are parallel or the same line.
Parallel there is no solution.
Same line they share all solutions
In either case they need the same slope.
If k =9 then they have the same slope
-a/b=-3/4
-a/b=-9/12=-3/4
