Question 275373: I'm no sure how to set up the following question. I'm just not undertanding how to set it up. The problem is as follows: It takes an airplane 1.5 hrs. to fly 600 km against the wind. The return trip with the wind takes 1 hr. Find the total flying time for the round trip if there was no wind.
Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you know times and distance

p - w = 600 / 1.5 = 400

p + w = 600 / 1 = 600

adding equations ___ 2p = 1000 ___ p = 500

now you know the distance and the speed ...
