.05x+.01(1-x)=.02*1
.05x+.01-.01x=.02
.05x-.01x=.02-.01
.04x=.01
x=.01/.04
x=.25 ounces of the 5% ointment is used.
1-.25=.75 ounces of the 1% ointment is used.
Proof:
.05*.25+.01*.75=.02*1
.0125+.0075=.02
.02=.02
