If a number times itself is added to 5 rimes the number, the result is 24. What could this number possibly be ?
I think it should be x^2+5= 24 but thats as far as I get.
This is a multiple choice question and it lists the answers as:
A. 3 or 8
B. -3 or 8
C -3 or -8
E. -4 or 6.

Let the "itself number" be x
5 tims the number = 5x
x+5x=24
6x=24
x=4

Hence, the number is 4.
