Dave has 60 coins, all dimes and nickels, worth $4.80. How many of each type of coin does he have?
Let d be the number of dimes. Then the number of nickels is 60-d.
So we then have, after converting dollars to cents:
10*d + 5*(60-d) = 480
Solve the above for d then calculate the number of nickels as 60 - d.
