I would think that linear equations are used with regard to medicines administered. THe medicine is consumed, injected, etc. at full strength, 100%. AS time goes on the medicine loses its strength. I think in some cases this is a linear model.

You can also use linear models to predict the number of men / women that come into the emergency room.

When you read or do case studies you may find that the models are linear.
