Question 252751: I am attempting to write an algebraic word problem. I have this thought in mind, however, I'm not sure which formula(s) I can use in order to effectively work the problem out and solve it. (I work in the logistics/transportation field, so I apologize for the example).
If you have 5 cartons of light bulbs in a case, and can fit 200 cases to a single pallet, how many pallets of light bulb cases can you fit into a 53 foot trailer?
So the question makes sense to me. I am unsure if there is enough information in the question in order to write an equation and solve it effectively. Is this because I am unclear of the uses of the various types of equations? Can you please guide me in the right direction?
Thank you for your help in advance, it is greatly appreciated.

Here are few things you need to know before you can calculate this
:
The inside dimensions of the 53' trailer, so you can find the usable volume
:
The size of of pallets,
The height of a loaded pallet (if you stack more than 1 level)
:
Can the pallets fill the width exactly if they are side-by-side (how many)
:
Can the pallets fill the length exactly? (how many)
:
If they exactly fill the trailer, width and lengthwise, only one level.
:
no. of pallets =
