Question 247915: I have a word problem that I just can't get. Will you please help?
Problem: Brad wants to buy flowers for his friend with $33. The daisies are $1 each and the roses are $2 each. He buys 3 more daisies than roses. How much did the roses cost?

Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
33 = 1(d) + 2(r)

d = r + 3

substituting ___ 33 = r + 3 + 2r ___ 30 = 3r ___ 10 = r

2 * 10 = 20
