the perimeter of a rectangle is 128 inches. if the length of the rectangle is 8 less than twice the width, what are the dimensions of the rectangle? let l represent the length and w represent the width.
-----------------------------------------
Perimeter = 2(l + w)
128 = 2((2w-8)+w)
64 = 3w-8
3w = 72
w = 24 in. (width)
---
l = 2w-8 = 2*24-8 = 40 in. (length)
