One side of a triangle is 2 cm shorter than the base, x. The other side is 3 cm longer that the base. What lengths of the base will allow the perimeter of the triangle to be at least 46 cm?
.
Let x = base
then
x-2 = one leg
x+3 = other leg
.
x + (x-2) + (x+3) >= 46
x + x-2 + x+3 >= 46
3x - 2 + 3 >= 46
3x + 1 >= 46
3x >= 45
x >= 9 cm
That is the base has to be "greater or equal" to 9 cm
