Could you please show me how to work this problem.  My child is having a hard time and I cant remember how.  IT has been to long.
I have p+15=s
3s+5p=101
I get stuck after that.

Substitute the s into the second equation:
Distribute the 3:
Combine like terms:
Move the 45 to the other side:
Divide both sides by 8:
So this is how much he paid for a pair of shorts. ($7)
Plug this back into the first equation:
So, $22 for a shirt.
