"Nine years ago, Kimo was twice as old as Jennifer was then" ___ K - 9 = 2(J - 9) ___ K = 2J - 9

"In four years, Jennifer will be the same age that Kimo is now" ___ J + 4 = K

substituting ___ J + 4 = 2J - 9 ___ 13 = J

substituting ___ 13 + 4 = K ___ 17 = K
