Looking at it like it's a graph, with x horizontal, the 6 ft vertical for the 100 feet horizontal, is y/x, which is the tangent of the angle at the Origin.
A 6% grade is an angle that has a tangent of 0.06.
tan(3.43363º) = 0.06
