Farenheit and Celcius In the farenheit temp scale, water boils at 212 F and freezes at 32 F. In the celcius scale, water boils at 100 C and freezes at 0 C. Assume that the Farenheit temp F and Celcius temp C are linearly related.
A. Find the equation in slope intersept form relating F and C with C as an independant variable.
B. What is the meaning of slope in question a?
--------------------------------
I would draw any graphs with C as the horizontal axis and F as vertical.
A. F = 1.8C + 32 This is the slope-intercept form usually seen as y=mx+b.
32 is the "y-intercept", F intercept in this case, where it crossed the F axis.
0 degs C = 32 degs F.
------------------
B. The slope is 1.8, which is the ratio of the size of a deg C to a deg F.
