Question 153379: I am having problems with the following word problem.
Tina Earns $175 per week plus 5% commission on all her sales. Find the minimum amount of sales to ensure that she earns at least $300 per week.

300=175+.5x
This s the equation that I came up with but do not think it is right. Could you please help me with the word problem and solving the equation

The correct formula is:
300=175+.05x
.05x=300-175
.05x=125
x=125/.05
x=$2,500 is the amount of her sales.
Proof:
300=175+.05*2,500
300=175+125
300=300
