Question 130023: A 40% sugar solution is added to an 85% sugar solution to create 1800mL of a 60% solution. how much of each solution is used?
Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.85X+.40(1800-X)=.60*1800
.85X=720-.40x=1080
.85x-.40x=1080-720
.45x=360
x=360/.45
x=800 ml or 85 % sugar is needed.
1800-800=1000 ml of 40% sugar is needed.
proof:
.85*800+.40*1000=.60*1800
680+400=1080
1080=1080
