Question 1202087: David is assembling memory cards for computers. At 9:00 am, 52 cards had been assembled. At 11:00 am, a total of 98 had been made. Assuming the production rate is linear.
a) Find the slope of this line and explain what it means in this context.
b) Find a linear equation to model the data.
c) Determine how many memory cards David can assemble in an eight- hour day.

A slope of a line is the change in y coordinate with respect to the change in x coordinate.
it is a ratio.
Or in simpleterms Rise/run
x1 y1 x2 y2
9 52 11 98

slope m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
( 98 - 52 )/( 11 - 9
( 46 / 2 )
m= 23.00

Plug value of the slope and point ( 9 , 52 ) in
Y = m x + b
52.00 = 207 + b
b= 52.00 - 207
b= -155
So the equation will be
Y = 23 x -155
In this problem from 9.00 AM to 11.00 AM (2 hours) the y value increase by 46 assemblies
