.
A store clerk sold 60 pairs of sneakers. The high-tops sold for $98.99
and the low-tops sold for $129.99. If the receipts for the two types of sales
totaled $6,404.40, how many of each type of sneaker were sold?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
x for $129.99 and (60-x) for $98.99.
The total money equation is
    129.99x + 98.99*(60-x) = 6404.40  dollars.
Express x and calculate
    (129.99-98.99)x = 6404.40 - 98.99*60
    x =  = 15.
ANSWER.  15 for 129.99 and 60-15 = 45 for 98.99.
Solved.
