I'm assuming your teacher wants you to find how many friends he has. If the assumption is wrong, then ignore my answer.
Mitch can afford to buy 20 bars.
He wants to have 10 left over.
That means he hands out 20-10 = 10 bars.
Each friend gets 2 bars, so he has 10/2 = 5 friends.
Answer: 5 friends
