If the perimeter is 9 units, then each side is 9/4 = 2.25 units
This is because each of the four sides of the square are the same length.

The area would therefore be (2.25)^2 = (2.25)*(2.25) = 5.0625 square units
The squaring operation is basically us multiplying the number by itself. It's no coincidence that the squaring exponent is named after the geometric shape.
