Question 1183191: Please help me
A car rental company's standard charge includes an initial fee plus an additional fee for each mile driven. The standard charge S (in dollars) is given by the function S=0.40M+17.75, where M is the number of miles driven.
The company also offers an option to insure the car against damage. The insurance charge I (in dollars) is given by the function I=0.25 M +4.80.
Let C be the total charge (in dollars) for a rental that includes insurance. Write an equation relating C to M. Simplify your answer as much as possible.
Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
S = .4M + 17.75
I = .25M + 4.80
C = S + I = .4M + 17.75 + .25M + 4.80
combine like terms to get:
C = .65M + 22.55
that's the total charge that includes the standard charge plus the insurance charge.
