C= 18d + 2 (Portage Company)
After how many days will the rental cost be the same for both companies? Explain.

Set them equal
so 18d+3=18d+2
they will never be equal. That may be the point of the problem, or there may have been an error in writing the problem. I canoed there nearly 60 years ago. Nice place. The picture I use was taken at Source Lake there.

To make a selection, it is not necessary to have two cost functions equal at some day.

From the given formulas, it is clear that the Portage company is ALWAYS CHEAPER than the True North company.
