Question 1168355: If you sell ice cream cones at the football game
you must sell 25 to make a profit. You have
already sold 15 cones. Write an inequality that
can be solved to show all the numbers of cones,
c, that you still need to sell?

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let y equal the number of ice cream cones you have to sell to make a profit.

if you have to sell more than 25 cones to make a profit, your inequality becomes:

y >= 25

if you already sold 15 ice cream cones, then subtract 15 from both sides of this inequality to get:

y - 15 >= 10

what this says is you have to sell more than 10 more cones to make a profit if you already sold 15.
