Part A) They earn 11x dollars in revenue from all the adults
We can think of it like this
1 adult = 11 dollars
x adults = 11x dollars
after multiplying both sides by x

---------------------------------------------------------

Part B) This is similar to part A. One child ticket costs $9 each, so selling y of them leads to 9y dollars.

---------------------------------------------------------

Part C) We earn 11x dollars from all the adults and 9y dollars from all the children. The total revenue is 11x+9y dollars.
The owner wants to bring in $1600, so we set 11x+9y equal to 1600 to get the equation 11x+9y = 1600

To be adequate to real life,  the problem must be formulated  DIFFERENTLY.

    at each screening in order to stay in business. He sells adults' tickets
    for $11 each and children's tickets at $9 each.

    a. How much revenue does he earn from selling x adults' tickets?

    b. How much revenue does he earn from selling y children's tickets?

    c. Write an inequality in x and y for the number of tickets he must sell at each screening.

            Then the answer for  (c)  is  THIS

                11x + 9y >= 1600 dollars.
