: There is a linear relationship between the wind speed at a given temperature and what that temp. "feels like". A higher wind speed will make the temp. feel colder. The table below shows what an unknown temperature t "feels like" at different wind speeds.
WIND SPEED (mi/h) 5 10 15
"FEELS LIKE" (F) 36 34 32
Write an equation in slope-intercept form relating the wind speeds to the unknown temperature.
Please show work and explain process. I have no idea what to do.
Thanks.

Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
WIND SPEED (mi/h) 5 10 15
"FEELS LIKE" (F) 36 34 32
Write an equation in slope-intercept form relating the wind speeds to the unknown temperature.
---------------------
You want an equation that looks like: feels = (slope)*speed + b
You have three points but only need two to find the equation.
slope = [34-36]/[10-5] = -2/5
----------------
Substitute into you equation form to solve for "b":
36=(-2/5)5+b
b = 38
---------------
EQUATION:
feels = (-2/5)(speed) + 38
