Question 1139109: 1. Jonas bought 200 share of a stock for $36/625 per share, and had to pay a commission of $4.25. Two years later he sold all of his share at a price of $52.16 per share. if he paid $8 for selling the stock, how much money did he make overall?
2. Two astronauts miss connections at their first rendezvous in space. if one astronaut circle the earth every 15 hours and the other every 18 hours, in how many hours will they rendezvous again in the same place? How many orbit will each astronaut made before the second rendezvous?

Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Bought cost was 36.625*200+4.25=$7329.25
Sold revenue was 52.16*200-8=$10424
He made the difference between those two or $3094.75
15 and 18 have a common integer multiple at at least their product, or 270, but they also have a least common multiple at 90 hours, 6 orbits for the shorter orbital time and 5 orbits for the longer orbital time.

Regarding the second problem, I want to point that orbiting with different periods, they have very different orbital speeds,
As a consequence, due to the Newton's gravitation law, their orbits are very different (have different radii),
and therefore, if to assume that the orbits are circular, then it is difficult to expect that they will be "at the same place".
I understand that the problem is "pure Math", but considering its Physics meaning, it has a little of sense (if any . . . )
