At t=2, candle is 8.5 inches
at t=x, where x=hours, the candle's length is 8.5+(x-2)(-1.6), units are inches, so when x=2 hours, the length is 8.5-0 or 8.5 inches, and when x=3, it is 6.9 inches long
when x=0, when the candle was lit, the length was 8.5+((-2)(-1.6))=8.5+3.2=11.7 inches

8.5+(x-2)(-1.6) inches
or 8.5-(x-2)(1.6) inches
