Joe and Tim work together.
Joe earns 7 dollars for every 5 dollars Tim earns.
Ratio between Joe's earnings to Tim's is 7:5
let x = the multiplier
then
7x = Joe's earnings
and
5x = Tim's earnings
If together they collect $156,
7x + 5x = 156
12x = 156/12
x = 156/12
x = 13 is the multiplier
how much does each earn?
13(7) = $91 for Joe
13(5) = $65 for Tim
