Question 1075220: 29. At time t = 0, water begins to drip out of a pipe into an empty bucket. After 72 minutes, there are 12 inches of water in the bucket. Write a linear function rule to model how many inches of water w are in the bucket after any number of minutes t.

30. A family has a supply of 75 logs to use in the fireplace during vacation. The family uses exactly 9 logs each night.

a. How many nights will the supply of logs last?

b. Write a linear function to model this situation where G is the number of logs remaining after N nights

At time t = 0, water begins to drip out of a pipe into an empty bucket. After 72 minutes, there are 12 inches of water in the bucket. Write a linear function rule to model how many inches of water w are in the bucket after any number of minutes t.
Inches per minute:: 12"/72 min = 1/6 in per min
Equation: I(t) = (1/6)t inches for "t" minutes
----------------t
30. A family has a supply of 75 logs to use in the fireplace during vacation. The family uses exactly 9 logs each night.
a. How many nights will the supply of logs last?
75/9 = 8 1/3 nights
--------
b. Write a linear function to model this situation where G is the number of logs remaining after N nights
You have 2 points:: (0,75) and (N,6)
slope :: (75-6)/(0-N) = 69/(-N) = -69/N
Equation:
L(t) = (-69/N)t + 75
------------
