eight times the difference of twice a number and 8 yields the number increased by 116
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Just write an equation for what it says (yield means =)
:
eight times the difference of twice a number and 8 yields the number increased by 116
:
8(2n-8) = n + 116
Distribute the 8
16n - 64 = n + 116
16n - n = 116 + 64
15n = 180
n = 180/15
n = 12
:
:
Confirm this in the original equation
8(2(12) - 8) = 12 + 116
8(16) = 128
