Question 1065710: James has a bunch of coins (nickels, dimes and quarters) all together worth 24.75. The number of dimes is 10 more than twice the number of nickels, and the number of quarters is 25 more than the number of dimes. How many coins of each kind does he have?
Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
nickels=x
dimes =2x+10
quarters is 2x+35
.05 x+ .10 (2x+10)+ .25 (2x+35)=24.75
.05 x+.20x+1+.50x+8.75=24.75
.75 x=15.
x=20 nickels ($1)
50 dimes ($5)
and 75 quarters ($18.75)
$24.75 total.
