Let F be the number of five-point questions. Then the number of three-point questions is (F + 12). The "total worth" equation is 5F + 3*(F+12) = 100. Simplify and solve for F: 5T + 3F + 36 = 100, 8F = 100 - 36 ---> 8F = 64 ---> F = = 8. Answer. 8 five-point questions and (8+12) = 20 three-point questions.
