Answer. 8 nickels and 16 quarters.

Solution

Group coins in sets in a way each set contains 2 quarters and 1 nickels. According to the condition, it is possible to do it. Each set worth is 2*25 + 5 = 55 cents. The number of sets is = 8. Hence, there are 8 nickels and 2*8 = 16 quarters in the collection.
