Question 1064806: The seat in a small concert hall are divided into sections A and B. Section A tickets are $18, while Section B tickets are $12. If 138 tickets are sold for a total of $1986, how many seats in each section were sold?
Answer by addingup(3677) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A tickets are $18, while Section B tickets are $12. If 138 tickets are sold for a total of $1986
-----------------------------------
A+B = 138, subtract B from both sides:
A = 138-B
:
18A+12B = 1986 substitute for A:
18(138-B)+12B = 1986
2484-18B+12B = 1986
-6B = -498 divide both sides by -6, and remember -/- = +
B = 83
A = 138-83 = 55
