Hi there,
Find two numbers whose sum is 25
x + y = 25.......Eq(1)
and one number is 10 more than twice the other.
x = 2y + 10......Eq(2)
Substitute into Eq(1)
x + y = 25
(2y + 10) + y = 25
2y + y + 10 = 25
3y + 10 = 25
3y = 25 - 10
3y = 15
y = 5
Substitute y = 5 into Eq(1)
x + y = 25
x + 5 = 25
x = 20
x = 20 y = 5
Hope this helps :-)
