Question 1052423: Mr.Jones is planning a trip to the 2017 auto show, and needs to find the school the best deal possible. There are two options he can choose when it comes to buying the tickets. He does not know how many students are going on the trip yet, so he needs to decide which option will be the best. If you just buy tickets, then you have to pay $5 per ticket. If he signs up as a group then he must pay $120 as a deposit, and then each ticket cost $1. How many tickets must he buy until both options cost the same amount? What is the amount?
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you just buy tickets, then you have to pay $5 per ticket.
If he signs up as a group then he must pay $120 as a deposit, and then each ticket cost $1.
How many tickets must he buy until both options cost the same amount?
:
let t = no. of tickets
Plan 1 = Plan 2
5t = 1t + 120
5t - t = 120
4t = 120
t = 120/3
t = 30 tickets will cost the same for either plan
Check
30(5) = $150
30(1) + 120 = $150
:
What is the amount? $150
