Question 1048548: Solve the following simultaneous equations.
- µ – β + 3α = 1, β – α = 0, -2µ + β – 2 α = 5

-u-b+3a=1
b-a=0, therefore b=a
-2u+b-2a=5
----------------- rewrite the first and third
-u-a+3a=1; -u+2a=1
-2u+a-2a=5; -2u-a=5
multiply the second by 2
-u+2a=1
-4u-2a=10
-5u=11
u=-11/5
substitute into first
11/5+2a=1
2a=-6/5
a=b=-3/5
-----------------------
Check with third
22/5-3/5+6/5=25/5=5
a=-3/5
b=-3/5
u=-11/5
