Hi,
.
The length of a rectangle is 4 feet longer than its width
A = Lw
396ft^2 = (w + 4)w
w^2 + 4w - 396 = 0
(w+22)(w-18)
w = 18ft, L = 22ft
AND
18ft*22ft = 396 ft^2 CHECKS!
