I need help with this question please which pair of linear equations represent parallel lines ?
Answer choices:
y = 2x+3
y = -4x-3
y = -6x-5
y = 8x+2 (*)
y = -2x+5
y = -1/4x+7
y = 1/6x-5
y = 8x-5 (*)
The two lines marked by (*) are parallel. Those and only those.
Because they have equal slope of 8.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website! Parallel lines have the same slope.
if everything is written in the form y=mx+b, all one has to do is look for the same number in front of the x.
Here, y=2x+3 and y=2x+5 have the same slope and are parallel. They both have a "2x"
Also is y=8x+2 and y=8x-5 are parallel.
