Let number be N

9 + 2N ------- "If 9 is added to twice a number"

3(9 + 2N) ---- "and this sum is multiplied by 3"

= ------------ "the result is the same"

4N + 13 ------ "the number is multiplied by 4 and 13 is added to the product."



With "the result is" being "=", we get: 3(9 + 2N) = 4N + 13

Do you think you can now solve for N: the number? Hint: It should be - 7
