Let q = the number of quarters

Now substitute n of (1) into (3) and get
(4) 5*(31 - q) + 25*q = 535 or
(5) 155 - 5*q + 25*q = 535 or

(7) 20*q = 380 or
(8) q = 19
Then using (1) we get
(9) n + 19 = 31 or
(10) n = 12
