Make movies = x
Video games = y
3x + 2y = 24.......(1)
8x + 4y = 57.......(2)
Multiply Eq(1) by 2
6x + 4y = 48.......(1)
8x + 4y = 57.......(2)
Subtract Eq(1) from Eq(2)
2x = 9
x = 4.5
Substitute x = 4.5 into
Eq(2)
8x + 4y = 57.......(2)
8(4.5) + 4y = 57
36 + 4y = 57
4y = 57 - 36
4y = 21
y = 5.25
Movies cost $4.50 each
Video Games = $5.25 each
