Question 1028410: Lesley wants a new bike that costs $254.00. Her parents said that they will help her pay for it by giving her half the amount of money. If Lesley already has $86.00 saved, and she makes $25.00 a month allowance, how many months will it take her to save the money to buy the bike?
Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
254/2 = 127 she needs (her parents pay the other half)
127-86 = 41
41/25 = 1.64 Since the problem says her allowance is monthly, she has to save for two months. The first month she will save 25 and the 2nd month another 25, then she will have 50, enough to cover the 41 she will need.
