Well, we can rewrite the second one to be
y = x - 5 and we can see it is not parallel to
y = 2x + 1
We can set them equal to each other (since they are both equal to y)...
x - 5 = 2x + 1
-x = 6
x = -6
and then
y = -6 - 5 = -11
The point of intersection is
(-6, -11)
