Question 1014152: A boy has to pay his parents back $100. Every two weeks, he saves $25. Write and solve an equation to show when he will pay his parents back.
So, I already found out that for every week, he has $12.5. In four weeks, he collects a total of $50. That must mean that in eight weeks, he collects $100. But I found out that $25 times 8 does not equal 100. But 8 times 12.5 equals 100. I want to know what mistake I am making in my thinking and what the equation would be to solve this problem. Thank you!

There are only four two week periods in 8 weeks.
So it would be 4($25)=$100 (four two-week periods) or
8($12.50)=$100 at $12.50 (eight one-week periods).
