Question 1008103: You have $15 in savings. Your friend has $25 in savings. You both start saving $5 per week. Write a system of linear equations that represents this situation. Will you ever have the same amount of savings as your friend? Explain.
To whoever solves this linear equation, I thank you. I tried going over it two different ways but I am unsure how to set the problem up and how to solve it.
My first attempt: 15+5x=y
25+5x=y
40+10x=y
/10 /10
4+x=y
-4x=y-4
Second attempt: y=15(5)=75
Y=
I didn't know where to go or if I was doing it correctly after this.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You won't ever catch up
y=15+5x
y=25+5x
subtract the second
0= -10
This is not true.
No solution.
It makes sense, since you start behind and never save more.
