Question 1005871: An item that was selling for $1,102 is reduced to $806. To the nearest whole, what is the percent decrease?
Answer by addingup(3677)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1,102 is reduced to 806
1,102-806= 296
Now, this is important: It went DOWN FROM 1102 TO 806:
296/1,1020= 0.27;0.27*100= 27%
-----------------------------------
Note that if the price had gone up (increased) from 806 to 1102 we would calculate the percentage of the difference and 806, in other words, 296/806
