Question 147346: Hi I need help with this word problem. I can not get what the 3rd equation should be. Here is the problem: Adult tickets to a movie theater cost $7.25 for adults, $6.25 for senior citizens and $5.00 for children. Over the weekend the theater sold 355 tickets and had a revenue of $2133.75. It is known there were twice as many children's tickets sold as there were senior citizen tickets sold. How many of each ticket were sold?
This is as far as I could get.
Adult Senior citizens Children
x + Y + Z = 355
7.25x + 6.25y + 5.00Z = 2133.75

This is what i have so far, I dont think its right.

325x + 400Y + 575z = 19300
Y=3x
x + (3x) + Z = 4300
4x + z = 4300
325x + 400 (3x) + z =19300
1525x +575z = 19300
(-575) 4x + z = 4300 (-575)
-2300x - 575z =-2472500
1525x + 575z = 19300
-775x = -2453200
x=3165.4 then when I do 3 times x to get y it doesnt fit with the total of 4300. I dont know please help me thank you.

Question 148123: I am trying to solve the following system of linear equation.
x/4 - y/11 = -9/44
x/6 - y/13 = -1/26
Now i am familiar with the methods of solving these types of problems, such as addition method and substitution method, but when it comes to fractions, I'm lost.
When you solve, would it be possible to explain each step.
