You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/4(x)+3/2(x)=7.
:
%281%2F4%29x+%2B+%283%2F2%29x+ = 7
:
You should be able to see that the common denominator would be 4:
Multiply the equation by 4, that means multiply each term by 4:
%284%29%281%2F4%29x+%2B+%284%29%283%2F2%29x+ = (4)7
:
Cancel out the denominators and you have:
1x + 2(3x) = 28
:
x + 6x = 28
:
7x = 28
:
x = 28/7; divided both sides by 7
:
x = 4
:
:
Check solution, substitute 4 for x in the original equation
%281%2F4%294+%2B+%283%2F2%294+ = 7
:
1 + 6 = 7
