You can put this solution on YOUR website!
FIRST WE FIND THE SLOPE OF THE LINE
3X+9Y+1
9Y=-3X+1
Y=-3X/9+1/9
Y=-X/3+1/9 THIS LINE HAS A SLOPE OF -1/3 SO ANY LINE PARALLEL TO THIS LINE ALSO HAS A SLOPE OF -1/3.
NOW WE SUBSTITUTE THE (X,Y) VALUES OF THE POINT THAT THE NEW LINE PASSES THROUH & SOLVE FOR THE Y INTERCEPT (b)
0=3*-1/3+b
0=-1+b
b=1 THEREFORE THE LINE FORMULA FOR THIS LINE THROUGH (3,0) WITH A SLOPE OF -1/3 IS
Y=-X/3+1
